Nigel Slater Life story


Nigel Slater OBE is an English food writer, journalist and broadcaster. He has written a column for The Observer Magazine for over a decade and is the principal writer for the Observer Food Monthly supplement. Prior to this, Slater was a food writer for Marie Claire for five years.

Early Life

Nigel slater was born on april 9. 1958 in wolverhampton. England. He was raised by his mother and grandmother. Who taught him to cook. He attended wolverhampton grammar shcool and then wnet on to study english literature at goldsmiths college in london.

Career

Slater began his career as a food writer in 1992 when he was appointed food writre for the observer magazine. Since then. He has written a number of cookbooks. Including the popular real fast food (1994) and papetite (1998). He has also appeared on television in the uk and around the world. Oscar-winning British filmmaker Sam Mendes and Steve Mcqueen have the two knights in the New Year Honours.

Mendes, who won The Academy Award for best Director for "American Beauty ", has been recognised for services to drama.

The Director of two Bond films said he was "astonished to get, are pleased and very proud of it," the honor.

Mcqueen , recognized for contributions to art and film of The First black film-maker to win The Best picture Oscar in 2013, 12 years a slave.

Before he in the movies, both men in successful careers in other areas of the art enjoyed.

Mendes, 54, built his early reputation on the stage, as artistic Director of London's Donmar Warehouse, and for its productions such as musicals, Oliver! and cabaret.

"I'm Standing on the shoulders of so many employees and colleagues, in The Last 30 years - Actors , writers, designers, producers, engineers - to whom I owe a great debt of gratitude," he said.

"I would not receive this honor without you. "

Mcqueen won the Turner prize in 1999 for his film-and video-defense of competition from the likes of Tracey Emin work.

The 50-year-old is currently working on a TV series in London's West Indian Community .
