Nigel Slater Life story


Nigel Slater OBE is an English food writer, journalist and broadcaster. He has written a column for The Observer Magazine for over a decade and is the principal writer for the Observer Food Monthly supplement. Prior to this, Slater was a food writer for Marie Claire for five years.

Early Life

Nigel slater was born on april 9. 1958 in wolverhampton. England. He was raised by his mother and grandmother. Who taught him to cook. He attended wolverhampton grammar shcool and then wnet on to study english literature at goldsmiths college in london.

Career

Slater began his career as a food writer in 1992 when he was appointed food writre for the observer magazine. Since then. He has written a number of cookbooks. Including the popular real fast food (1994) and papetite (1998). He has also appeared on television in the uk and around the world. Including the bbc show eating together and the channel 4 series nigel slaters simple suppers.

England takes the World Porridge-Making title in the Highlands

Lisa Williams said, you need to have "chasing the dream", to win the title

An English woman grabs The World Porridge Making Championship title.

Lisa Williams , of Suffolk, claimed the golden spurtle in the 26. The year of The Competition , the bridge is held in Carr every year.

The title is an award for the competitors as The Best traditional porridge using only three Ingredients - oatmeal, water and salt.

Ms Williams said: "I Am surprised and thrilled to win The World Porridge Making Championships. "

she added: "I discovered the golden spurtle in the year 2015, and immediately fell in love with The Competition . In 2016, I've done it the last six and the hunt for the dream was always there.

"I love The Competition . From the moment you step in the hall you are welcomed Like Family .

"It's hard to describe, but the flags and the tartan, the people from The Village who organize everything, the ladies who serve the porridge, The Volunteers , the washing of our equipment, the mash parade, the bagpipe - it is just Magical . "

Mrs Williams is running a social enterprise and a community Café for adults with learning difficulties in Trimley St Mary.

"I'm not used to salt in my porridge, but I saw Nigel Slater using it years ago, and have done the same always," She Said .

The judges tasted More Than 60 purees throughout The Day .

Nick Barnard, of London, won the speciality of title with its maple-pecan porridge. They contain oatmeal, pecans from South Africa and Guernsey cream from a farm in Somerset.

Charlie Miller , of the organising Committee, said: "The Competition This year attracted competitors from 11 different countries, including Sweden, Canada, Germany, France, Poland and the UK.

"It was a fantastic weekend it was celebrating a mutual love of porridge. Congratulations to our winners, congratulations to all participants and many thanks to our sponsors and to all of you, to see came, she fights you. "
