Outlaw Duke Mantel (James Cardwell) dupes singing cowboy Gene Autry (Gene Autry) and his band into providing a diversion while his gang robs a bank nearby, leading to the band members' arrest. After the mistake is cleared up, Gene learns that his friend has inherited a ranch, prompting the band to move there and turn it into a "rest ranch.
