Overlooking the Haya River valley, the district of Miyanoshita is known for its onsen hot springs, offering outdoor bathing in scenic surrounds. As well as some laid-back ryokan inns, the springs feed the landmark Fujiya Hotel, founded in 1878, with its elegant blend of Japanese and Western architecture and decor. Dining options include low-key ramen shops, traditional izakayas, and international restaurants.
