The Yumiko-chan incident refers to the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl named Yumiko Nagayama by a 31-year-old American soldier stationed in Okinawa, that took place September 3, 1955, ten years into the U. S. occupation of Okinawa, which at that time was not part of Japan.
