The violet-throated metaltail — also called métallure de baron, metalura de azuay, and metalura gorjivioleta — is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae found only in Ecuador. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forest and subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland.
