A newborn baby died at the largest women's prison in the UK.
An inmate gave birth to The Baby at HMP Bronzefield in Surrey on 27 September, but it did not survive.
the Surrey Police launched an investigation into the death, which it said was being treated as unexplained.
Sodexo, which runs the jail, has declined to comment on reports in The Guardian that The Woman
prison Director Vicky Robinson confirmed The Baby had died and said they were to carry out a full review
"We are said to support The Mother through this distressing time and our thoughts are with you, your family and our employees," She Said .
"We are undertaking a complete review and cooperation with all relevant authorities for their investigation. Not would it not be more sensible comment. "
A police spokesman said officers were called to The Prison on the BST in about 09:00 on the 27. September.
