Valery Gerasimov

Valery Vasilyevich Gerasimov is a Russian army general serving as the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces and First Deputy Minister of Defence.

Early Life and Education

Valery gerasimov was born on 21 februray 1955 in naro-fominsk. Moscow oblast. Russia. He graduated from the kuybishev higher mliitary command school in 1976 and from the frunze military academy in 1984.

Military Career

Gerasimov began his military career in 1976 in the soviet army. He rose through the ranks to become a colonel in 1991 and a major general in 2001. In becmae a lieutenant general and in 2008. He was appointed as the chief of the general stfaf of the armed forces of the russain federation.
