About USS Mansfield
USS Mansfield, an Allen M. Sumner-class destroyer, is the only ship of the United States Navy to be named for Sergeant Duncan Mansfield, a Marine who, in 1804, during the First Barbary War sailed with Lieutenant Stephen Decatur aboard the Intrepid on a covert mission to destroy the recently captured Philadelphia.
