About USS Grouper
USS Grouper, a Gato-class submarine, was the only ship of the United States Navy to be named for the grouper. Grouper was launched by the Electric Boat Co. , Groton, Connecticut on 27 October 1941, and commissioned at New London on 12 February 1942, with Lieutenant Commander C. E. Duke in command.
