About Upstairs Downstairs

This revival of the classic British series begins in 1936, six years after parlor maid Rose left 165 Eaton Place, and it is set against the backdrop of a Britain with a new king. Fate brings Rose back to the home -- this time as housekeeper for the new owners, Sir Hallam and his wife, Lady Agnes; his mother, Lady Maud, soon arrives with manservant Mr. Singh. Rose tries to recruit a new "downstairs" family to help run the elegance of the "upstairs" world, but she finds that her job isn't easy, for she discovers that -- in both worlds -- there is a labyrinth of secrets, lies and scandals.
