Half a century ago, life in Northern Ireland took a sinister new normal.

'Feel like you were beaten,'

A form of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) means that a certain smell reminds you of The Night your father was murdered, and that Brings back memories, suddenly and terribly.

"I can't describe exactly how it is," she says.

"But whenever that smell comes Over Me , I'll take the shakes. My legs are weak. My head is empty.

"It can happen within a few seconds or minutes. But for the rest of The Day , you have the feeling you was black and Blue beaten. "

PTSD affects different People in different ways.

"We had no screen for PTSD, so there are a lot of hidden post-traumatic stress disorder. "

"But if you come from The Job that you have time to think about things such as: 'Was I really so close?'"

As the awareness for Mental Health has increased, and problems that once were taboo are all the rage, Many from the generation that lived through the problems in seeking help for the First Time .

Alan McBride, co-ordinator of The Wave Trauma Centre, says, problems, anniversaries tend to bring to ask for an influx of People to help.

"We never really escape our problems here," he says.

Prof O'neill explains: "children have parents with Mental Health problems are more likely to have Mental Health problems themselves.

"It's the unemployment, drug use and low educational level.

"All of these things can come together to create an environment that is toxic for a child. "

she believes there is a greater emphasis on the financing of measures for the prevention of mental illness must.

"we know that if We can intervene early, we can prevent long-term damage to the health of children and opportunities in life as they grow into adulthood. "
