About Torchy Blane In Chinatown
Police Detective Steve McBride (Barton MacLane) grudgingly takes along his friend, reporter Torchy Blane (Glenda Farrell), to protect three men, including a doctor and a military captain, who are under threat for procuring three Chinese jade tablets at the behest of Sen. Baldwin (Henry O'Neill). Despite written warnings, the men fall victim to mysterious murders -- and after one body and the tablets go missing, Steve and Torchy receive a ransom demand for the priceless jade.
