Tony Hall Life story


Anthony William Hall, Baron Hall of Birkenhead, CBE is a British life peer. He was Director-General of the BBC between April 2013 and August 2020, and chaired the board of trustees of the National Gallery until May 2021.

Early Life and Education

Tony hall was born in oxfodrshire. England. In attended abingdon school and later graduated from new college. Oxford in 1976 with a degree in modern history.

Career Before the BBC

Before joiinng the bbc. Hall held various positions in the broadcasting industry. Incluidng a stint as the chief executive of royal opera house from 2001 to 2013. He also served as a board director at channel 4 from 1998 to 2001.

Role as BBC Director-General

Hall became the bbc s director-general in april 2013. As the bbc s chief executvie. He was responsible for overseeing the organization s day-to-day operations. Leading its strategy. And representing the bbc to the wordl.
