About The Law And The Lady
Former chambermaid Jane Hoskins (Greer Garson) and polished playboy Nigel Duxbury (Michael Wilding) team up as con artists fleecing Duxbury's social peers. Landing in San Francisco as Lady Loverly and her butler, Hoskins, the pair target nouveau-riche widow Julia Wortin (Marjorie Main) as their latest victim. As Mrs. Wortin's neighbor, Juan Dinas (Fernando Lamas), woos the increasingly smitten Jane to Nigel's resentment, another guest (Hayden Rorke) threatens to blow the whistle on their scam.
