Israel's annexation: a New frontier plans to let the Palestinians into despair

Nov 29,2023 11:41 pm

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that the settlements in The Land claim, the Palestinians - is a part of Israel

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was able to Annex parts of the occupied West Bank this summer. He says The Movement of U.S. President Donald Trump ' s peace plan, The Other on the "glorious Chapter in the history of Zionism".

The Palestinians are skeptics. You say that you pull out of the agreements that have to risk your own fragile governing authority. To shock them, which means moving The Loss of important areas for a future State , and a death to dreams of self-determination.

Much of the Global Community looks with increasing concern about what they see as a clear violation of International Law , while warning echo of a "hot summer" of boiling tensions.

How is the Foundation laid before, of what may be One of The Most important political movements in the region in The Years ?

'Do it right!'

My journey begins along the motorway to the South of Jerusalem.

The street is named after Menachem Begin , the former Jewish militant leader was Israel 's sixth Prime Minister . He is an icon of The Right wing, the founding of The Movement , which later merged with the Likud party under the Leadership of Benjamin Netanyahu .

The motorway dips past a 12-storey building, covered with a huge poster of Mr Netanyahu and President of The Trump . "No, to proclaim a Palestinian State !" in Hebrew. "Your Highness - do it right!"

It is a message not of the current Israeli and U.S. leaders. It is made up of a group of citizens of Jewish settlements to overcome in the West Bank - The Territory that they see as their Biblical Heartland .

settlers say that a Palestinian State in the West Bank , could pose a threat,

The mayors want to assert Israeli sovereignty over More Than 30% of the West Bank , which is on The Table by Mr Trump. To apply with Netanyahu soon be able to bring proposals to The Cabinet or the Parliament: "the Israeli right" to parts of The Territory , The Mayor him a headache of his political rights.

It is A Sign of how The Argument has shifted in Israel over The Years .

I'm goin', leave the Start the motorway behind, passing a military checkpoint, and participation in, a smaller road, which winds The Way in the West Bank , Home to three million Palestinians and almost half A Million Israelis live in settlements.

'My peach is not is The Trump card to give,'

Among vines and olive trees, Mohammed Yehya Ayer shows me his country.

We Are on a ridge outside the Palestinian village of Irtas. Some of the West Bank color codes are familiar on the display. Orange roofs curve over a hill to the South-West - the nice suburb layout of the Israeli settlement of Efrat.

Mohammed Yehya Ayer says, parts of the West Bank "sweeps already [as well as] in the Annex,"

Outside of their fenced-in edges of the country down into an empty Valley , a dusty Gulf of burnt ochre and rock, before she attracts the house - from The Grey concrete blocks of Dheisheh, a sprawling urban refugee camp on the outskirts of the Palestinian city of Bethlehem.

Two separate worlds side by side.

I ask Mohammed what he thinks of Mr Netanyahu's recent statements.

"It means nothing," he tells me. "These areas are already [as well as] in the Appendix. It's All In your hands. "

Mohammed to explain goes on, his view.

His Family , The Land farmed for generations here. According to Efrat settlement was in the 1980s, began to change things. He describes a frequent battle for control.

"If I get 10 stones in here [to The Building of the structure], the Israeli authorities and destroy them," he says.

"Israeli. To Make suggestions and to confiscate more lands on the pretext that they are State Land . and the government to help The Settlers . "

Israel plans new settlement called Givat Eitam, North-East, from where I walk with Mohammed . It would be considered a neighborhood of Efrat. Mohammed 's Land is in an area sandwiched between the Two settlements.

"If you Efrat is building by the force, you can install gates and fences and does not allow us, about our countries," he says. "Would you tell us, special permits and approvals. "

The Israeli authorities have routinely pointed out that the fence of routes can be appealed in the planning or the courts. She declined to comment on the specific allegation about the access, if Givat Eitam Goes Ahead .

the judges are due to rule on an appeal against the allocation of Land for The Settlement itself.

I put it to Mohammed , The Trump plan stipulates that the Palestinians have a State on 70% of the West Bank , and a freeze on the expansion of settlements, for The Last Four Years in places outside of the Israeli annexed areas.

He takes care of a freshly picked peach.

"Who trump is a promise for something? This property is in the possession of him?" he asks, holding his fruit. "I can peach to you because I did it myself. But if I don't have it, how I could offer it to you?"

" say, God is on our side and we can do what we want,'

It is far to Efrat. But The Journey shows the West Bank of sharp contrasts.

Efrat is One of the More Than 130 Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank

Before the watchtower society, to highlight concrete stumps next to a road, to extend a future, the line that Israel is a network of walls, fences and checkpoints - the lock wall.

Its construction began during The Second Palestinian intifada, or uprising, between 2000 and 2005, when suicide bombings killed often, Israelis and Israel launched a sweeping incursions into West Bank cities.

Israel says The Barrier saves your life. Critics call it to grab a unit of Land .

The settlements are considered illegal under International Law , the transfer from the prohibition in the country part of their populations in areas under military occupation Israel rejects this argument, The Territory is "disputed" and not occupied.

An armed Security guard waves me past a checkpoint in Efrat, quiet streets.

The Trump plan is a major break from previous peace proposals. Some speculate that this could have led to Israel officially the large settlement blocks win, including the Block with Efrat, for Example , as part of a negotiated deal with the Palestinians, the West Bank as part of their future State .

Most of the big settlement blocks are only on the Green Line , the armistice line before the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, when Israel captured the West Bank from Jordanian control.

But President of The Trump plan potentially awards American recognition of Israel , all settlements and of the strategically important Jordan Valley - before negotiations with the Palestinians.

Outside a waffle bar, I chat to Yedidia Mosawi and Sharon Barazani, both in their 20s.

Yedidia tells me he works in Security and is coming more from a small settlement to the South, in the vicinity of Hebron.

"It's a fantastic place, very important for Israel ," he says about the West Bank - or of the Hebrew Biblical name of Judea and Samaria, as many Israelis find it.

Sharon Barazani and Yedidia Mosawi

I pray to Mr Netanyahu's plans. He proposes that it is enough.

"[We should] apply Israeli law to all of this country. It is us in the story. For the Jewish People is The Most important thing is that we don't have to go to a different country. "

Sharon adds: "You can not say that People go from your country, your Home . "

I come to the office of The Mayor . The outside is a picture of a floor is found a mosaic in Jordan in the 1880s.

It is known as the Madaba Map , a representation of the Holy Land in 6. Century. One of its Greek inscriptions, in addition to Bethlehem, refers to Ephratah on the Biblical Position.

The Israeli settlement of Efrat was established in 1983. Mayor Oded Revivi also aware of the religious and ideological ties to the country, although he says it is not the main Driving Force for most of The Settlers .

Many like it to come in the 1990S , for the potentially cheaper apartments in a ready-formed Jewish Community .

Mayor Oded Revivi, said The Trump plan is a unique attempt to solve The Conflict

Mr Revivi talks with Netanyahu. He knows the members of the American-Israeli mapping team charged with the drafting of the territorial boundaries of the annexation, and he supported The Trump plan from the beginning.

"I thought it was a genuine attempt to try and find another way to solve The Conflict ," he says.

What tire of his colleagues, The Mayor 's suit, the Prime Minister demand The Right to be, Israeli rights to more of the West Bank ? Mr Revivi vaccination on some of his colleagues politely.
