Mathilde (Louisa Pili), a surprisingly assertive 10-year-old, insists to her grandfather, Paul (Claude Rich), that they find his ex-wife, Madeleine (Monique Melinand), who ran off years ago. With only the letters that Madeleine wrote to her daughter and granddaughter to use as clues, they journey from Paris to Spain in search of her.
