To replace President Donald Trump and the new National Security adviser, Robert O'brien

US President Donald Trump has the name of a new National Security adviser, John Bolton .

Robert O'brien had a long career in foreign policy work for the two main U.S. parties, and is now conducting hostage negotiations in the Ministry of foreign Affairs.

It is Mr Trump's fourth National Security adviser.

As a top National Security adviser, Mr. O'brien will be entrusted with the fight against everything from immigration policy to increased tensions with Iran.

The President and his newly appointed spoke with reporters on Wednesday morning in Los Angeles .

"Robert, that was fantastic," said Mr. Trump said, praising Mr. O'brien's work with the hostages. "We know each other very well. "

Mr O'brien said it was a "privilege" to take on The Role .

"We have A Number of challenges, but it is a great team," he said. "I look forward to working with you and to work with The President to keep America safe and continue to rebuild our military. "

Mr O'brien, Mr Bolton, HR McMaster and Michael Flynn in The Role , which does not require confirmation by the Congress.

Who is Robert O'brien is?

The new National Security Advisor, trained as a lawyer, to advise then went Republican in foreign policy and had roles in various government.

Robert O'brien has a long diplomatic career, for both Republicans and Democrats

the Former President Bush appointed him in 2005 as a representative of the UN General Assembly .

While at the UN, he worked with Mr. Bolton, who was then The Ambassador . He also worked for former Secretary of state Condoleezza Rice and Hillary Clinton.

A former Obama administration official was among those who celebrated The Appointment of Mr O'brien.

"All I have to say is that @robertcobrien is a really, really Good Person and I wish him all The Best in what will surely be a very difficult role," said Andrew Exum, a former Deputy assistant Secretary of defense for policy in the Middle East , on Twitter.

The new trump pick, and his predecessor share some similar views.

Mr O'brien was critical of the UN in his book, While America Slept: the restoration of American leadership to a world in crisis.

He wrote that his son, described the Assembly as "when all The Dictators come to America and give speeches about how bad we are", something Mr O'brien as "one of the better descriptions," which he had heard.

Mr O'brien has also criticized the Iran nuclear deal, calling Iran "the largest state sponsor of terrorism in The World ".

In his role as special presidential envoy for the hostage Affairs, Mr O'brien works with families of American hostages and advises on related issues, including the recovery measures.

Mr O'brien was involved, with the release of American rapper Asap Rocky from a Swedish prison in the last month.

He believed to be the highest rank that a Mormon, a member of the trump administration.

What happened to John Bolton ?

Mr Bolton, a foreign policy hard-liners, was at the time, after repeated conflicts with The President and other members of the administration, in particular in relation to North Korea , and Venezuela.

Mr Trump tweeted on 10 September that he had asked Mr Bolton for his resignation, because he "disagreed strongly with many of his proposals".

moments after The President said the announcement, Mr Bolton, that he had actually offered his resignation, and Mr Trump said that she would talk "about it".

the sources said the National Security Council advises The President , had a separate unit within the White house under Mr Bolton and many in the White house, criticized Mr. Bolton's approach.

From rabble-rouser to the conventional choice

After More Than a year with a political and ideological Lightning Rod , such as the National Security Advisor, Donald Trump went with a much more conventional choice.

Where the outgoing NSA-John Bolton was bombastic - a outside of the personality with an eye for the TV cameras - Robert O'brien, a behind-the-scenes bureaucratic players. He spent much of his career as a lawyer, and if he did it to make forays into the public service, it was usually in rolls, the deep in the machinery of government.

Mr O'brien, a civilian, also stands in contrast to the two former generals, chosen by The President , for The Position , Michael Flynn and HR McMaster. His election could be an indication that Mr Trump loses his early affinity for the military brass.

Given that O'brien was a foreign policy adviser for Mitt Romney , and Scott Walker 's presidential campaigns and worked in The George W Bush administration, Mr Trump's move could also help repair tensions with the conservative foreign policy establishment.

Mr O'brien takes this top National Security position as one of several global disputes, teeter on The Brink of full-blown crisis. He is for the work of a commander-in-chief that prides itself on its unpredictability. The Task is a real challenge.

What are the immediate challenges he faces?

Mr O'brien will take on The Role with the administration on the threshold of a full-blown crisis with Iran after attacks on Saudi Arabian oil facilities.

The U.S. accuses Iran for the attacks, but Iran has denied any involvement. Secretary of state Mike Pompeo talks in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday to the possible answers.

Mr O'brien, on must weapons with The President , a strategy for the persuasion of North Korea to abandon its nuclear.

Mr Trump and the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, have taken Three Times , but tangible signs of progress have been scarce.

Then there is Afghanistan . This month, the U.S. and the Taliban appeared close to a deal to the end of Mr Trump's canceled long-running conflict, but abruptly, in a planned session after the death of a US soldier in an attack the insurgents.

One of the Taliban negotiators, said the BBC, to open their "doors" and that negotiation is "the only way to peace in Afghanistan ".
