The Bachelor: ABC casts first black man in hit dating show
For the First Time in its history, The Bachelor , ABC's highly Popular Reality series with a black lead.
Matt James, a 28-year-old Real Estate broker, will be made known to the star in The Next season, ABC on Friday, after mounting criticism about a lack of diversity.
The Show is almost two decades of history-seen, mostly-white casts, with only a black star in its sister Spin-Off, The Bachelorette , in the year 2017.
Mr James called his casting "a step in The Right direction".
"I don't think that it's always the wrong time, The Right thing," said Mr. James said in an interview with Good Morning America on Friday.
the pressure for The Hit dating show to cast a black lead, in The Last days, in the midst of the ongoing racial reckoning in the United States, instigated by The Killing of George Floyd last month.
An online petition signed by More Than 86,000 people called for the TV network to "reflect and honor the ethnic diversity of Our Country ," and cast a Black Bachelor for his upcoming season, in addition to casting black, indigenous and people of color in at least 35% of the competitors rolls.
