GP shortages cause 'unacceptable' the patient is waiting

Professor Martin Marshall, took over as RCGP Chairman in November, says GPs are struggling with increasing workload, causing many to burn and leave The Profession .
He says, the problem is exacerbated by the difficulty of recruiting GPs and other members of the staff to manage the demand.
A spokesman from the Ministry of health and Social care, told the BBC the recruitment of thousands would mean more highly-skilled workers, patients would be "an additional 50 million appointments in a year within the next five years. "
