Syama Prasad Mukherjee was an Indian politician, barrister and academician, who served as India's first Minister for Industry and Supply in Jawaharlal Nehru's cabinet. After falling out with Nehru, protesting against the Liaquat-Nehru Pact, Mukherjee resigned from Nehru's cabinet.
