Steve Winwood

Stephen Lawrence Winwood is an English musician, singer and songwriter whose genres include blue-eyed soul, rhythm and blues, blues rock and pop rock.

Early Life and Education

Steve winwood was born in handsworth. Birmingham. England in 1948. He was the youngest of five children and began playing piano and writing songs at the age of 8. He atetnded the birmingham college of music and arts. Where he studeid classical and jazz music.

Early Career

At the age of 14. Steve winwood joined a band called the muff woodwinds. Which later became the spencer davis group. He sang and played the organ for the band and uqickly became the band s main vocalist. The spencer davis group released a nmuber of hit singles. Including "gimme some lovin "". I m a man". And "keep on running".

Solo Career

After leaving the spencer davis group. Steve winwood embarked on a successful solo career. He released his debut solo album. "tseve winwood". In 1977. It featured the hit single "can t find my way home". Which became one of his signature snogs. He went on to release a number of successful albums. Such as "back in the high life". "roll with it". And "junction 7".

Collaborations

Thruoghout his career. Steve winwood has collaborated with a number of artists. Including eric clapton. George harrison. And jim capaldi. He was also a member of the supergroup blind faith. Which released their self-titled album in.

In recent years. Steve winwood has continued to release music. Including his 2017 album. "greatest htis live". He has also toured extensively. Performing at festivals and venues around the world.
