Bob Dylan 's first new song in eight years, is a 17-minute rumination on the 1960s and The Assassination of JFK.
"you blew out The Brains of The King / thousands saw the home and saw the whole thing", he sings in the first minutes of murder Most Foul.
But the visceral account of President Kennedy's assassination in 1963, gives way to a contemplation of America and music.
The Track came unannounced, to explain At Midnight , with Dylan, it was recorded "a while".
"greetings To My fans and followers with gratitude for all your support and loyalty over The Years ," said the Pulitzer-and Nobel-prize winner in a statement.
"The back is an unreleased song that we have recorded, for a while, that you might find interesting. Stay safe, stay alert, and may God be With You . "
He gave no further information about its vintage, but the delicate, almost chatting, the singing is reminiscent of his recent live shows.
Musically, it is spacious and haunting, with a dusting of the piano, a sad violin, and slow, brushed drums, and in the Interpretation of the texts would require weeks of scholarship, two lines in, Dylan could have chosen to release The Song now as a comment on the US policy.
"The Day you killed him, someone said to me," son, the Age Of The Antichrist has only just begun,'" he sings on the nine-minute mark.
"I said," The soul of a nation has been ripped, and it begins to go into a slow Decay . "And that it is 36 Hours after the Judgement Day . "
as well as Kennedy's assassination, The Song makes allusions to pop culture, from the Nightmare on Elm Street and The Merchant of Venice to The Beatles ' I Wanna Hold Your Hand, and even Billy Joel Only The Good Die Young .
for The Last Five Minutes are almost a catalogue of his favorite music, references to Stevie Nicks , Nat King Cole , The Eagles , Cole Porter 's Anything Goes , Beethoven's moonlight Sonata, and jazz greats such as Stan Getz and Charlie Parker .
According to Dylan ologists, Murder Most Foul " is the longest song that Dylan released ever, with its Running Time of 16 minutes, 57 seconds narrow country darkens in 1997, which ran for 16 minutes, 31 seconds.
