Dr. Charles Pommer (Paul Frees) is a scientist researching extraterrestrial life. When a space probe returns covered in fungus, Pommer throws himself into researching it, only to discover that this substance -- which he names "Blood Rust" -- is deadly when in comes into contact with humans.
