Smiley Blanton Life story
Smiley Blanton was the first Speech Department hire in “speech hygiene” at the University of Wisconsin. He served from 1914-1924 as Director of the first university-based speech clinic in the United States, then called the “Speech and Mental Hygiene Clinic” (now the University of Wisconsin Speech and Hearing Clinic).
