Sergei Winogradsky Life story
Sergei Nikolaievich Winogradsky ForMemRS was a Ukrainian microbiologist, ecologist and soil scientist who pioneered the cycle-of-life concept. Winogradsky discovered the first known form of lithotrophy during his research with Beggiatoa in 1887.
