The scaly-headed parrot is a species of bird in the family Psittacidae, the true parrots. It is also called scaly-headed pionus, Maximilian pionus, Maximilian parrot, Maximilian's pionus, or Maximilian's parrot. It is found in eastern Brazil, central and eastern Bolivia, Paraguay, and northern Argentina.
