About Santa Ana Department
Santa Ana is a coffee-growing province in northwest El Salvador, known for active volcanoes, abundant wildlife and Mayan pyramids at Tazumal and Casa Blanca. The provincial capital, also called Santa Ana, has architectural landmarks including the neo-Gothic cathedral and National Theater, with its grand facade. The riverside city of Metapán is noted for its 18th-century colonial church, the Iglesia de San Pedro.
