Sant'Angelo, Rome

Site of the Jewish Ghetto, the center of Hebraic Rome since the 1550s, Sant'Angelo is known for its kosher restaurants and grocers serving locals and tourists. Rustic Via del Portico d'Ottavia, the Ghetto's main street, retains a medieval feel. Other draws in this neighborhood include the whimsical Fontane delle Tartarughe, the Crypta Balbi Museum and the 1st-century Theatre of Marcellus, the model for the Colosseum.
