The Restoration of the English monarchy took place in 1660 when King Charles II returned to England after the Interregnum, which started after the end of the Second English Civil War, with the execution of King Charles I of England on 30 January 1649.

Big Ben: the costs for the repair of the Elizabeth Tower will rise from £18. 6m

the cost for the repair of The Elizabeth tower, which houses the famous Big Ben bell, has risen from £18. 6m, after The Discovery of the bomb damage and asbestos.

The need for more money was only discovered during a survey of the 177-Year -old structure in the centre of London.

The House of Commons Commission, said it was "extremely disappointed" that the cost had risen to £79. 7m.

The new budget to be adopted by the accounting officers of the houses of Parliament.

Ian Ailles, Director general of The House of Commons, said of the Elizabeth Tower Restoration began in the Year 2017 and to continue until the next Year - "more complex than we expected".

The Big Ben Conservation project is part of a broader "recovery and renewal" program for the conservation of The Palace of Westminster, and parts from the Year 1099.
