About Pirre Hummingbird


The Pirre hummingbird, also somewhat misleadingly known as the rufous-cheeked hummingbird, is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae. It is the only species in its genus. The species and genus was first described by Edward William Nelson in 1912. The genus is named in honour of George Washington Goethals.
