Nohorua Life story
Nohorua (1st of 2) Nohorua was the half-brother of the Ngāti Toarangatira chief, Te Rauparaha. As the eldest in the whānau, Nohorua's rank was that of tuakana (senior). He was trained as a tohunga (learned expert). Despite these senior roles, Nohorua's brother Te Rauparaha exercised the leadership of the tribe.
