Ambitious newsboy Slip Mahoney (Leo Gorcey) longs to be a sports writer and, with the encouragement of sports reporter Mark Morgan (Bill Kennedy), decides that covering a big story will demonstrate his abilities. With his friend, photographer Sach (Huntz Hall), Slip investigates a tip on a crooked gambling scheme. The friends disguise themselves to get to gambler "Dapper" Dan Greco (Anthony Caruso) and unearth a story -- only to see a libel lawsuit declared, which threatens the paper. …
