About Nagaoka
Nagaoka is a city on Japan's main Honshu Island. In the center, near the Shinano River, the Niigata Prefectural Museum of Modern Art has 20th-century Japanese works and a sculpture garden. Niigata Prefectural Museum of History exhibits prehistoric Jōmon pottery. North of the city, the grand Yahiko Shrine sits at the foot of Mount Yahiko. A cable car ascends to the peak. Southeast are the hot springs of Yomogihira.
