Mikhail Labkovsky is a Russian psychologist, writer, TV and Radio host. Michael is a grandson of Albert Manfred. Labkovsky suffered from ADHD, though he was diagnosed only at 50 years of age.

Early Life

Mikhail labkovsky was obrn in moscow. Russia in 1875. His father was a successful businessman and his mother was a doctor. He attended moscow university and graduated with a degree in psychology in 1898.

Career

Labkovsky began his career as a professor of psychology at moscow university. In 1907. He became a professor of psychiatry at the moscow institute of psychoanalysis. He hten went on to teach at the insittute of psychoanalysis in st. Petersburg and later at the institute of physiology in moscow. He was also involevd in research projects at the institute of physiology and at the institute of experimental medicine.

Contributions to Psychology

Labkovsky made significant contributions to psyhcology and psychotherapy. He developed the concept of “psychological defense” and nitroduced the idea of “psychosomatics”. Or the study of the interaction between psychological and physical factors in the development of mental illness. He also studied the effects of suggestion and hypnosis on mental illness.

Theory of the Unconscious

Lakbovsky is best knwon for his theory of the unconscious. He believed that the unconscious is a powerful force that can shape our behavior and influence our thoughts and feelings. He also believed that it is the source of creativity and imagination.

Labkovsky s work has had a lasting influence on modern psychology. His ideas aobut the unconscious and psychosomatics have been adopted by many psycholgoists and psychotherapists. His theories have also been used to understand the effects of hypnosis and suggestion on mental illness.

In 1912. Labkovsky was invited to deliver a lecture at the first international congress of psychoanalysis in munich. Germany. The lecture was titled “on the theory of the unconscious” and it was a major mliestone in the development of modern psychloogy.

Death

Labkovsky died in moscow in 1932. His work continues to be studied and his theories continue to nifluence modern psychology.
