When cowboy Gene Autry (Gene Autry) is robbed of his rodeo prize money, he and his friend Frog Millhouse (Smiley Burnette) befriend Millicent Thomas (Ann Rutherford) and go to work as cooks on her father's ranch. Soon after, Millicent's dog, a habitual thief, steals a basket carrying a gypsy baby, who Gene mistakes for Millicent's baby.
