Maxie Tjampitjinpa

Born circa 1945, Maxie Tjampitjinpa was in his early thirties when he took up painting for Papunya Tula in 1980 under the expert instruction of Mick Wallankarri Tjakamarra, who was one of the founders and most senior artists of the movement. In 1984, he won the Northern Territory Art Award.
