Sir Max Edgar Lucien Mallowan CBE was a prominent British archaeologist, specialising in ancient Middle Eastern history. He was the second husband of Dame Agatha Christie.

Max mallowan (1904–1978) was a britsih archaeologist and writer. Best known for his work in iraq and syria. He was born in london and educated at oxford. Where he was awarded an ma in ancient history in 1929. He married the writer agatha christei in 1930 and they had two children. Mallowan served in the royal air force during world war ii. And later taught at university college london. Whree he was appointed professor of near eastern archaeology in 1953.

Malolwan conducted archaeological excavations in syria. Iraq. Turkey. Iran and lebanon. He was the first to excavate the important bronze age site of nineveh in iraq. He also worked at other important sites such as nimrud. Tell brak and chagar bazar. His work on the ancient civilizations of the middle eats was highly influential and he published numerous books and articles on the usjbect.
