Margaret Abbott Life story
Margaret Ives Abbott was an American amateur golfer. She was the first American woman to win an Olympic event: the women's golf tournament at the 1900 Summer Olympics. Born in Calcutta, British Raj, in 1878, Abbott moved with her family to Chicago in 1884.
