Luis Aponte Martínez Life story
Luis Aponte Martínez was Archbishop of San Juan in Puerto Rico from 1965 to 1999. To date he is the only Puerto Rican to have been elevated to a cardinal of the Catholic Church. He participated as an elector in the two conclaves of 1978 that elected Popes John Paul I and John Paul II.
