Gabriele (Fabrizio Bentivoglio) is a successful antiques dealer in Paris, but he's dogged by dreams of his childhood in Italy, where he was raised by a loving mother (Valeria Golino), the kept mistress of Gabriele's father, a wealthy patriarch (Giancarlo Giannini).
