Karl Kollwitz Life story
Karl Kollwitz was born in the village of Rudau on 13th July, 1863. He became an orphan early in life and went to live with a family in Königsberg. As a young man he joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP). In 1881 he met Käthe Schmidt. Her father was also an active member of the SDP.
