Feb 16,2020 10:00 am

It is often the assumption That the former MPs are For Life after the loss of your seat, with a lot of Hiking in consulting company jobs or similar to well-paid roles. While the public sympathy may be low for those who are not re-elected, the reality of the immediate political redundancy rarely a foot in a high-flying Position - it means a trip to The Job centre.

Laura Smith , Crewe and Nantwich MP 2017 - 2019 Laura Smith said she was not to be ashamed of, Job Center

the Former teacher Laura Smith lost the Crewe and Nantwich seat in the December elections after two years in The Role . If she was photographed in The Job -hunting, she posted it on Social Media , Twitter with the shoulders to shrug emoji: "What people expect of me?"

The ex-Labour politician told BBC 5 live: "I Am ashamed to go to The Job Center, it is about dealing with this misunderstanding. That people, the members of Parliament - including the municipalities - type sitting on a bench in the reserves, or the connections, and You would like to have the rent automatically.

"I'm someone who comes from a working-class background, I Am like millions of other people in search of work, and I don't really have to think about the luxury of a long time, I must get on with it.

"I don't want anyone to know, pity me - You , the risks, the vote on the,. I'd be lying if I said it was [was hard], I absolutely loved my Job . I was chosen never expected to 2017, to my home, so I lose cores [2019].

"We were, of course, to win the seat, and I feel desperate, I'm sorry, really, That I was able to persuade them to vote enough people for me. That is the nature of the policy.

"You get a period of time to wind up your constituency office, at the end of February, And Then it is basically statutory redundancy.

"I want to stay in politics in one form or another, but again, You have your options. I need a roof over My Family 's head and we what happens. "

Karen Lee , Lincoln MP 2017-2019 Karen Lee tweeted a response in solidarity with Laura Smith

the Ex-Labour politician, Karen Lee responded to Ms Smith, to tweet, to say, You should also take a look at The Work , the Agency for work ", like You and millions of others" The former nurse has since sat in The General election of Lincoln, and six positions requested.

"the reality for The MPs, the very different perception. I've seen people say online, we get a huge payoff - I get the numbers a little redundancy, but it is not massive and I didn't get a Job , so I Am in your life.

"It's not like I'm going to have a vacation in The Bahamas , it will be worth it the mortgage and gas bill. Should it take until I get me another Job . I was at The Job Center on Wednesday and the staff there were very friendly, supportive and helpful.

"Is [it] should not be something That we publish. I think it is positive That the members reflect the people they represent or represents.

"It was really disappointing and sad to lose my seat. But in The Night , I thought to myself, a huge number of people had come during The Campaign , and has helped me, and it gave her everything.

"Since the elections, I helped my team wind-Lincoln office below. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to go to Westminster and represent The City I Am .

"I lost My Daughter Lynsey for breast cancer in 2011, when she was 35, and if You had something That , it puts these things in context. I still have my nursing registration and You have brought me for the shifts in my local hospital, but in the end, I would like to do Something More strategic.

"I feel optimistic, looking for another Job is quite exciting. "

Jo Platt , Leigh MP 2017 - 2019 Jo Platt said, she had always worked in Leigh,

Jo Platt , in the marketing later, a consultant was. She was elected to represent Leigh for labour in 2017 and was The First woman to do so, before he James Grundy in December.

"Historically, we know That the MPs were very privileged people, and come from a very privileged background. the actual number of working class MPs has risen quite sharply on both sides of The House .

"The demographic development has changed in Westminster, [but] I'm not sure whether the perceptions. There's this [idea] we all live in The Castle , not in the constituency, somewhere, and it is wrong.

"people come from normal circumstances and when You stop back to be a MP You or do what You were before, or in the reason You are on the search for Something Else .

"I was a single mother, if I to the Parliament . I was a councillor before I was an MP, so That since 2012, I was politically in [some] way. Come out of That and think, 'what now?' is a frightening prospect.

"All The Work I've done, the groups to which I got involved in am, end the connection and the push.

"For me this is what I Am focused on, and of course the issue of getting a Job - Yes , it is there, but there are still bits of The Work I do, while I wear a MP and now.

"It's a transition. "
