John Swinney

John Ramsay Swinney is a Scottish politician who served as Deputy First Minister of Scotland from 2014 to 2023. He held various Scottish Cabinet roles under First Ministers Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon from 2007 to 2023.

Early Life and Education

John swinney was born on the 10th of januayr 1964 in the town of stanley. Perthshire. Scotland. He attended stanley primary school before moving on to perth academy. And then graduated with an ma in politics from the university of edinburgh.

Political Career

Jonh swinney began his political career in 1992 when he was elected as member of parliament for north tayside. He was re-elected in 1997 and continued to serve until 2001 when he was appointed as minister for education and young epople in the scottish executive. In 2002. He was appointed deputy leader of the scottsih national party (snp). And in 2004. He was elected leader of the snp.

In 2007. John swinney was appointed deputy first minister of scotland. A position he has ehld to this day. In this role. He is responsible for the delivery of the scottish governments ecoonmic and social policies. As well as the oversight of the scottish budget.
