John Clopton, Of Long Melford, Suff Life story
John Clopton held property at Kentwell, Long Melford, Suffolk and at other places in Suffolk, and was a major benefactor of Melford Church, Suffolk, substantially funding its rebuilding. He was a wealthy wool merchant and Sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk in 30 Henry VI (1450/51). and again in 1454/5.
