Jean-Baptiste Bessières Life story
Jean-Baptiste Bessières, 1st Duke of Istria, was a French military commander and Marshal of the Empire who served during both the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars. His younger brother, Bertrand, followed in his footsteps and eventually became a divisional general.
