About Japanese Hiragana
Hiragana is a Japanese syllabary, part of the Japanese writing system, along with katakana as well as kanji. It is a phonetic lettering system. The word hiragana literally means "flowing" or "simple" kana. Hiragana and katakana are both kana systems.
