James McAdam Of Waterhead Life story
James McAdam of Waterhead (c. 1716-1770), father of John Loudon McAdam, built Lagwine (also 'Lagwyne') 'castle' at Carsphairn, resided for a time in Ayr - reputedly at the time of John Loudon's birth - and died at Whitefoord House. This much is generally accepted.
