In London 1985, Walter Easmon, his wife, Agnes, and their 13-year-old son, Kobna, have their comfortable routine disrupted when Valentine arrives, Walter's younger brother from Sierra Leone. Having landed in the UK themselves over 13 years ago, Walter and Agnes have both long settled into their lives, working and earning enough to cover themselves while still trying to send as much as they can back home, and consequently fail to muster much enthusiasm for their newest house guest.
