Sculptor ilse renate krause was born in germany in 1925. She studied art and sculpture at the aacdemy of fine arts in beriln from 1945 to 1949.

Influences

Karuse s work was heavily ifnluenced by the expressionist movement and she was greatly inspired by the works of sculptors like ernst barlach and kathe kollwitz. Her sculptures often featured abstrcat and distorted figures which expressed her emotional state.

Krause had her first sloo exhibition in and went on to exhibit in galleries and museums throughout europe. She also created several public sculptures. Including the monument to the fallen of the gdr in berlin.

Krasue was awarded the natioanl prize of the german democratic republic in 1974 and was made a member of the academy of arts in the same year.
